Play Policies

The Basics

Enter at your own risk. A waiver must be completed for all children before they may enter the playground. Only one waiver is required per family, and you can fill it out online here (recommended) or at the waiver kiosk in our lobby.
Open play admission is valid until the end of open play hours on the date purchased.
All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times unless otherwise noted. We are not a drop-off facility. Do not leave your child unattended.
Adults may enter the facility only when accompanied by a child under their supervision. Adults are responsible for the supervision of the child in their care at all times, and are encouraged to join in the fun with their children in our play area. While many exhibits are kid-sized, all areas are open and accessible to adults.
Clean footwear is required for all guests.  Please do not remove shoes to enter the playground.  We are not a soft-play facility and do not required (or allow) children to play in their socks.  We have two sets of wooden stairs in our playground that may be slippery in socks only.
Lobby space is limited and we do not have stroller parking. There is a large parking lot right in front: please leave strollers in your car.
We do not allow “walk-in parties”. No unreserved parties or other celebrations are allowed in our facility including cake, candles, gifts, balloons, or goody bags. All parties must be celebrated in a reserved party room.
You are welcome to bring in outside food, and we also sell quality snacks and beverages at our front desk. You may enjoy these items in the adjacent seating area only. Please do not take food or drink into the playground area.
Discovery Playtown reserves the right to refuse service to anyone who does not follow our rules or the instructions of our employees.

Safety/Security

Discovery Playtown has been designed with safety and security as our top priority. All of our large play exhibits and most of our toys were made in the United States of America by talented American craftspeople, and comply with all safety standards and building codes.
We have two exits: our front door, and an emergency exit in back by the restrooms.
For the safety and security of guests, our building and its contents, video surveillance is in continuous use, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
We are not responsible for loss, theft, or damage of your personal belongings. Do not leave valuables, electronics, or purses/wallets unattended.
We know that everyone has a bad day. Inappropriate behavior includes, but is not limited to: hitting, kicking, shoving, biting, scratching, throwing or swinging toys at, sitting/standing on, and/or taunting, threatening, or otherwise intimidating another child. When children demonstrate inappropriate behavior, a team member will request that the behavior cease immediately and will then seek out the parent or guardian if they are not immediately nearby. If the inappropriate behavior continues, the parent will be asked to remove the child from the playground area for a timeout. If this is not successful, the parent will be asked to take the child home and try again another day. We take the safety of all guests seriously and our decisions are final.

Health/Cleanliness

As mentioned above, food and drink may be consumed in the snack area or in a party room if attending a party. No food, drinks or gum are allowed in the play area and no nuts, please.
Diaper changing tables and disposal bins are located in each restroom. Please do not change a diaper outside of our restrooms, or dispose of a dirty diaper anywhere except in our diaper bins.
Diapers and pull-ups must be covered by clothing at all times.
We are committed to maintaining a clean and healthy facility. Our staff cleans and sanitizes surfaces throughout the day, using green cleaning products. We also have a professional cleaning service which comes in at night several times each week for deep cleaning.
Bins for “mouthed toys” are located throughout the play area. When you see a child put a toy in their mouth, please place it in a bin so it can be cleaned and sanitized and returned to service.
We encourage frequent handwashing. Sinks with soap are located in our two restrooms and our two party rooms. Party room sinks may be used for handwashing during open play if not in use for a party. We also feature alcohol-free safeHands® sanitizer, and Sani-Hands For Kids instant hand-sanitizing wipes (located in our party rooms).
We reserve the right to refuse admittance to any visibly sick child or parent/guardian at our sole discretion. Children with a runny nose that is clear and watery, and who are otherwise happy and playful and are not running a temperature, are welcome to enter. Persons with nasal secretions that are thick and colored, or have ran a fever of 100 degrees or experienced vomiting or diarrhea in the last 24 hours, or have a cough accompanied by fever, chills, and/or coughing up of mucus, or have a rash (accompanied by fever or itching), or have eye discharge or conjunctivitis (pink eye), or open or oozing sores, lice, or scabies, or any other known communicable disease, are prohibited from entry.
